Alexis McKeown
Program and Marketing Coordinator

I am the Program and Marketing Coordinator for the WMS. I did my undergraduate degree at York University in a double honours major of Sociology and Law and Society. I had trouble picking just what I wanted to learn – everything sounded good. However, it is my post-graduate certificate in Corporate Communications from Centennial College where I acquired the skill sets required for my position with the WMS. The course taught me how to create a web site, but more importantly what is good material for the internet. I was exposed to the layout programs that are needed to design Glad Tidings, gain experience in project/program management, taught the value of words and learned the value of different communication tools.

While in the Corporate Communication program I was introduced to the non-profit field and was fortunate enough to do my placement in the Resource Production and Communication department of The Presbyterian Church in Canada . I did resources, flyers and other print material for the PCC. From here I moved to the Women’s Missionary Society.

An only child, I was born in Scarborough , ON where I have spent most of my life. After my marriage to Robert McKeown in 2005, we moved to Richmond Hill , ON with our puppy and two independent cats.  In 2008 we welcomed our new son Nathan into the zoo. In 2010, we will are expecting a sibling for Nathan. Some of my personal interests are the theatre, my family as well as entertaining books and movies.
